Atelierista

The term comes from the Italian language and can be translated as "artistic adviser".
Loris Malaguzzi was the first to introduce this term in the educational field to describe a person with an artistic background working in education in Reggio Emilia. An atelierista is not an external art expert, but a professional artist who lives and works in an educational context with children, students, teachers and educators.
An atelierista supports and encourages each person's creative expression through the use of different materials and techniques, working with both artistic and relational skills. An atelierista is a defender of the democratic rights of each individual to express themselves and to learn about, with and in the world through many different means of expression.
